Dark Symphonies is proud to offer the much sought after, out of print 1993 debut album from cult Swedish thrash band CAPTOR - Lay it to Rest, featuring a bonus second CD with the band's 1991 Memento Mori Demo and 1992's Domination Demos.
Formed 1987 by Jacob Nordangård, Juha Mäyre and Christer Johansson. Initially, they were known under such band names as Gonzola, Midas Touch and Pestilence, but they took the name Captor after the Slayer song "Captor of Sin".
The self-financed debut album Lay it to Rest was recorded early in 1993 and released by the label Eurorecords in the summer the same year. The reactions from the press were genuinely positive and Sweden’s biggest metal magazine Close Up included the song T.D.L. on their compilation album Extreme Close Up. Everything was set up for a glorious future. The album was varied, progressive and solid with some death metal vibes, clean vocals and female chorus added.
Now a new renaissance has come. Many of Captor’s old fans has always held the Captors Lay it to Rest-era as the best. And now, with the help of Internet, new fans from all parts of the world have started to discover the fabulous thrash gems on Lay it to Rest. The music and lyrics are still as valid today as they were 25 years ago.
As illustrated by a fan review at Discogs: “Classic album. Absolutely nothing to complain about, one of my all-time favorites. Vocals, Guitars, Drums, AND bass are all outstanding. Considering they're from Sweden, you would think they're some average Swedish Death Metal band, but nope! They sound very unique. Definitely check them out if you haven't.”
